Avaya 9641G Phone Handset (Reception/Manager SIP handset)

The Avaya 9641G IP handset is what Avaya calls a navigator phone (the other model is the 9650 ). The 9641G offers the second largest screen size (only the 9670G IP phone is larger). With the big colour touch screen and web browser it was designed for surfing the web, instant messaging, collaboration for features like Microsoft outlook and calendar integration and the like. Realistically though how many staff does this really apply to? With the proliferation of PC and mobile devices do you really to use your phone for that as well? For most staff...probably not. Yes it's only a little more expensive than the 9621G phone but the cheaper model is actually better suited to most companies and the cheaper 9611G even better again. The only feature the 9641G offers above and beyond is Bluetooth integration and the option of a call centre faceplate (eliminating the handset) and a dual headset adapter. In our experience most Australian call centres would be looking for a much cheaper overall handset cost.

In a gigabit environment we think the much smarter choices are the 9611G and the 9621G IP phone . In a 10/100MB office the 9608 is actually a huge bang for buck option and is a fantastic all round phone.

Like all IP handsets, the 9641G is automatically recognised by the Avaya IP 500 phone system the moment it's plugged into an existing Ethernet port. This makes staff moves very easy because you simply BYO handset and away you go. Your extension number and your all user preferences are also instantly reinstated. This also works for staff moving between office locations - they simply log on to an available IP phone and away they go.

Designed for managers, receptionists and other staff that spend large amounts of time on the phone, the 9641G arguably takes the 9621G IP and 9611G IP to the next level.

Having said this, if you aren't using a Bluetooth headset and don't have enough phone lines to warrant the expansion module, you may be better off saving your dollars and going with the very capable 9621G .
