Samsung OfficeServ 7200S Phone System (up to 64 users)

The OfficeServ 7200S IP Pbx is an intelligent, ease to use unified communications platform that can expand up to 64 users and is perfect for SME businesses. Unlike the smaller solutions (OS 7030 and OS 7100) that vary in maximum configurations of handset types the OfficeServ 7200S IP Pbx specs are as follows:

  • Samsung IP handsets - 64 users
  • Samsung Digital handsets - 64 users
  • Analogue phones - 64 users

Being a hybrid IP Pbx, like all Samsung Office Serv platforms, the system can also facilitate the connection of multiple types of VoIP and traditional phone lines:

  • SIP VoIP trunks - 32
  • h/323 trunks - 24 lines
  • Digital Trunks PRI 23 - 46 lines
  • Analogue PSTN phone lines - 60 lines

Bottom line, whatever type of handset or line configuration you want now or in the future, the Office Serv 7200S Pbx can easily accommodate it. Given the modular architecture of the platform you can also link and network various size Samsung systems together and they operate with the same handsets and software. Where other IP Pbx and hosted Pbx systems may be better is where they only have a single solution that scales from 1-1000+ handsets. This way you never outgrow your system.

Range of different Samsung phones for every need and budget.

Handsets are the largest costs component of most SME deployments. The difference between expensive IP handsets and cheaper digital equivalents can translate to $1000's of dollars across larger numbers of staff. Like most good solutions the Samsung Office Serv 7200S connects to the entire range of Samsung wireless, digital and IP handsets offering you choice and well as different price points to suit any budget.

There are 3 Samsung handset ranges to choose from with multiple handset models in each:

  • Samsung Digital 5000 series phones
  • Samsung 3000 IP series basic handsets
  • Samsung 5000 Series premium IP models

Don't believe that IP telephony is always the best way to go

The biggest mistake many people make is they believe sales people. When they move to VoIP they also mistakenly believe they must implement IP handsets too. This is simply not the case. The types of phone lines you use on a Samsung pbx system are irrelevant to the handsets you operate. There are some benefits to IP but make sure you clearly understand them before you commit to the higher handset costs:

  • IP is a cost effective solution for connecting remote workers
  • IP handsets are great for hot desking (where staff share common phones when they are in the office)
  • IP phones are required for advanced multimedia applications which is why they have larger, often colour screens.

Where you only have one data point at a specific desk location

Depending on how you network sites (if relevant) to the OfficeServ 7200S also dictates if you actually need IP at all. If you're having a smaller satellite site without its own standalone PBX system then you will need IP handsets there. The other option is with a separate standalone PBX you can choose any handsets.

In most SME rollouts of 30+ staff the reality is 95% of companies already have an existing system in place and all the existing CAT 6 cabling they need (phone and data point to each desk). In that eventuality you can choose to operate digital handsets which will provide users with all the functionality they require in most cases. With digital handsets you also don't have the need for additional power packs or expensive POE switches.

Best of all if you do need IP in some instances you can always mix and match between any handset type as well.

What benefit is there stepping up to the OfficeServ 7200?

Obviously apart from the additional expense you also get additional capacity of the system which doubles to 128 users and the voicemail and Auto Attendant channels also increase substantially to 20. With the OfficeServ 7200 you also get IP UMS/IVR which is explained as follows:

Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) automates interactions with telephone callers. Customers can use a touch-tone telephone to interact with your database to either acquire information from or enter data into it. This is the type of solution you see with online banking etc.

Unified Message System (UMS) helps manage fax, email and voice mail messages in a single mailbox. By unifying message administration, it saves time and cost, enhances business productivity and makes mail management simple and efficient. From a data perspective you also get more advanced performance as the demands of larger companies also increase:

Interface modules

  • LAN - Layer 2/3 Ethernet switches (LIM)
  • WAN - Resilient multi-port router (WIM)

Enhanced data applications

  • VPN Tunnelling
  • Firewall and intrusion detection
  • Policy management and QOS

Computer Telephony

  • OfficeServ CTI applications
  • Open TSP for 3rd party CTI

Wi-fi Access with the Samsung Office Serv 7200S.

With Wi-Fi access points in your office you can now use Wi-Fi handsets and PDA's to connect effortlessly to the OfficeServ 7200S Pbx system. Not only can you achieve wider network coverage than basic cordless phones but you also have access to the systems features with their proprietary IP wireless handsets. It is also much cheaper than deploying DECT rollouts that often require expensive base station repeaters. Connect your mobiles phones to the phone system.

Like many IP PBX systems the Samsung OfficeServ 7200S pbx system offers the ability to twin your mobile device to the system. This links your desk phone and mobile phone so that when your extension number is dialled both devices will ring. Staff no longer need to track and employee down or ring multiple numbers. This is great for internal staff as well as customers.

Mobile Twinning is actually the basic way to achieve this interconnectivity and is common on all leading systems. What detracts from the Samsung solution is that other brands and hosted IP Pbx solutions have taken this technology much farther. They offer sophisticated SIP applications for your iPhone, Tablet or Android device. This effectively gives you your phone system functions on your mobile and with operate with either 3G or on your wireless network. It has literally become an office in your pocket. You can conference, access system databases, speed dials, transfer calls and much more.

Some brands like Avaya even offer Video conferencing and GEO location services as well through their SIP applications. If you have a relatively mobile workforce then you should really explore this technology and see what is available. The productivity enhancements are game changing.

Connect your PC's to the phone system for CTI and more....

The Samsung OfficeServ 7200S IP pbx also allows remote workers to load softphone applications on their PC's. This way you get a virtual phone handset on your PC screen that acts and performs just like your real office desk phone. This application is perfect for staff that travel. If you've got a remote worker in a fixed location then sometimes it's just easier to implement a Samsung IP handset. Also once your PC is authorised on the network you can also access the huge range of affordable CTI (Computer Telephony Integration) applications that are available across the entire OfficeServ range - from call reporting, call centre applications, Receptionist PC consoles, Manager administration programs, Microsoft Integrations for screen popping and database calls and much more. OfficeServ 7200S is also Microsoft TAPI compliant and compatible with a wide range of industry standard CTI applications.

Customer Self Administration

This takes multiple forms with the OS7200S but the net result is reduced costs and increased flexibility for you company:

  • Easyset - this allows individual users to easily administer and make changes to their own handset programming without affecting anything else. It saves time and money and the chages are free.
  • OfficeServ Manager - this allows managers to control their own phone system and make their own adds, moves and changes. You don't need to call a technician now every time you want to make changes. The administration of the system is in your own hands.
  • OfficeServ Dataview - this great web based user interface provides reporting, real time monitoring and scheduled reports on all traffic on the OS 7200S. Data is stored in a database and users can easily access this via an authorised PC on the network. OfficeServ DataView is connected to the OfficeServ 7200S IP pbx via the OfficeServ Link application.

Advanced Voicemail and email integration

The built in Voicemail and Auto Attendant with UCD (Uniform Call Distribution) is a 6 channel version that is sophisticated and included as standard. The Samsung 7200S voicemail also allows users to intelligently route callers with different greetings and employing call routing based on time of day, day of week, caller ID and DDI (Direct In dial numbers).

The email integration feature (unified communications) gives you the ability to access and manage voicemail messages as emails directly into your inbox as .WAV audio files. This way staff can listen to, respond, transfer and forward voicemail just like their normal emails.

Uniform Call distribution, call recording and call centre applications

With advanced call routing on the OfficeServ 7200s you can intelligently distribute calls between users. With Samsung handsets you can also see how many people are in the call queue, number of answered calls etc. This is also complimented in a more sophisticated way with the OfficeServ Dataview functions.

If you're running a call centre with agents OfficeServ 7200S CRM application can make call routing decisions based on the CLI presented or the DDI (direct in dial) number the customer called in on. It can even perform skill based routing to an individual or group that may be best served to take particular type of call. The Samsung CMS application can then measure and report on all this information for both live response times as well as historical information.

Call recording is a brilliant feature that is used as either a powerful sales tool and/or to store calls for future retrieval if required. This type of technology is now so affordable that any sales company should be deploying and using call recording.
