It’s staggering to know how many customers are still renting their commander phones even though their rental contract has long since expired. The ironic thing is the phone systems in question have been well and truly paid off. Most rental contracts are 48 or 60 months on commander phones. At the end of the rental agreement, the normal process is you hand back the equipment start renting a new solution.

In that scenario, the good news is phone systems have almost halved in price. This means customers could have brand new commander phones for less than they paid for their last solution. That’s a great result for the end user as rental payments are fully tax deductible and it will allow them to exploit the benefits of new technology available on modern commander phones.

Now go back to the customers that don’t upgrade. We’ve seen customers who have been renting the same Commander phones for over 10 years. Effectively they have paid for the solution twice over and have no additional benefits to show for it.

If you’re using commander phones you should check when your rental agreement expires. If you choose to keep your current solution you should be given the option to continue renting the commander phones for less than your existing rental payments. Customers seem OK with paying a reduced amount. What they don’t know is that the reduced offer amount could be the same as they pay for a brand new solution. Why would you keep paying for out-dated commander phones when you can get state-of-the-art for a similar price. No logical company would but customers assume that commander phones still cost the same price they paid for them. The reality is they’re now a fraction of the price!

Commander would be making $1,000,000’s every year with customers that have no idea they are either:
a) Still renting their old commander phones that are out of contract
b) Paying too much for renegotiated rental prices.

They get to keep all this additional money on a system you HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR! It is nothing but cream for Commander so make sure you don’t get caught out.

If you are looking to upgrade your commander phones it pays to do your homework and shop around for prices. We see a lot of inflated prices from a range of suppliers. Just work out what system they are quoting and make a couple of phone calls for a sanity check.
