Although the Alcatel-Lucent 4018 is the standard phone in the Alcatel-Lucent 8 series IP handsets (other phones include the 4028, 4038, 4068). It offers more limited functionality than the premium models but for everyday users it is a smart, easy to use and very affordable IP handset. There is also a 4008 phone which is identical except for one feature - it doesn't have a spare Ethernet connection to run both the PC and phone off the one cable. If you already have 2 Ethernet cables at your desk this is a moot point anyway.
The 4018 is designed for staff that aren't heavy users or need to transfer call around. This is where the bigger screens come in handy. They are also great for kitchens, foyers, retail showrooms and other basic need areas. Compared to the larger 4028 phone you don't get:
What the Alcatel 4018 phone does give you is incredible value. You can still access voicemail, system speed dials, bi directional navigator to scroll, hold, mute, conference, redial and 6 feature keys that have LED status indicator lights. This is more traditional and allows users to see at a quick view the availability status of 6 staff and/or phone lines are doing - depending on what you have programmed the buttons to display.
In a typical IP handset rollout typical customers will get about 20% of the 4018 handsets and this lowers the overall TCO of the system without compromising on what staff actually need. Like all IP handsets, the Alcatel 4018 phone will plug and play when connected to a live Ethernet port on the pbx. This makes staff moves very easy as they can take their own handset with them and it will register them as the same extension and same user settings once they log on to their new location. Digital handsets actually require reprogramming or swapping network cables at the patch panel to achieve the same end. The 4018 incidentally uses class 2 for power consumption.
If you are looking at cheaper, digital handset equivalents, then check out the 4019 phone . It is identical in specs except for the fact that the 4018 has a 10/100MB network switch for IP and 2 Ethernet ports.
The Alcatel 4018 handset comes with a 12-month manufacturer warranty as well as our exclusive free phone support for the life of your Alcatel Omni PCX IP phone system. This offer is exclusive to Infiniti customers.
