Alternatives To The Yealink SIP-T42S?
There are plenty of telecommunications systems on the market that are suited to executive users and managers, so it is important that you research and find the system best suited to your needs. The difference between the phone system and the handsets is that although the handsets are of course an important factor, they are essentially keyboards for the phone system itself. The phone system is where a lot of the features and functionality stem from. Therefore, it is important that you first choose a phone system that suits your needs, and then choose the handset that you want to work with that system.
The Yealink handsets are best paired with the SpringCom Hosted phone system. With SpringCom Hosted, the whole phone system exists in the cloud rather than installing the physical hardware box and wiring that sits in the office. Handsets are delivered pre-programmed and come with free programming changes for life- therefore, the system is completely scalable and so can grow with the business. An incredible feature system also comes as standard, with features such as call flow, auto-attendant, calling waiting and voicemail to email technology. Voicemail to email technology is especially beneficial for managers and executives, as it allows the youto access your voicemail from your email wherever you can get internet.
One alternative to the SIP-T42S handset, whilst using the SpringCom Hosted phone system, is the SIP-T46S. The SIP-T46S is one step above the SIP-T42S, with the same HD technology for crystal clear communications, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi adapters and elegant appearance. Plus, the SIP-T462 interface is LCD colour screen, whilst the SIP-T42S has a graphic screen.
Looking at other systems... iPECS eMG80
The iPECS eMG80 is a phone system from LG Ericsson. This Ericsson LG eMG80 is a good alternative to an hosted phone system that includes the Yealink SIP-T42S handset. The system is a good alternative if you do not have access to high speed internet such as the NBN or you have very specific requirements that a hosted phone system with Yealink handsets may not cater to.
The eMG80 is an incredibly top quality product for a very low price. The system offers all of the basic features such as voicemail, DND, day and night greetings etc, and also showcases the more advanced features like voicemail to email, auto-attendant and multi-party video conferencing. This system offers an outstanding range of features at a low price.
A handset from within the eMG80 series to consider is the LIP-9040C. We have found the LIP-9040C to be best suited to managers, general office users and remote workers. The large number of fixed and programmable features, the EHSA and Bluetooth compatibilities, together with the superior audio and UC capability makes this advanced handset at the forefront of telecommunications handset technology- and so any person, or business; needing to have the best audio quality and the ability to be and feel like they are part of the phone system where ever they are will surely be satisfied with the LIP-9040C.
Yealink SIP-T42S Pro's
With the Optima HD audio technologies, you will always benefit from crystal-clear conversations. Communications will be drastically improved as you do not have to strain to hear what the person on the other end of the line is saying. The audio quality is lifelike and seamless.
Our customers have said their staff have really appreciated the HD audio as it helps them have better and more productive conversations with their customers on the phone. The clear audio has also kept their staff fresher and happier though the day as they don’t have to strain to try to decode fuzzy phone calls.
Style and Substance
The beautiful handset is designed not only with style in mind, but also durability. The handset is scratch resistant, has an anti-tangle cord, a mirror style screen and an adjustable stand.
The USB port of the handset enables the SIP-T48S to support extended features, such as USB call recording and Bluetooth connectivity.
Easy Configuration and Upgrade
Configuration and upgrades are made simple with Yealink’s free Redirection and Provisioning Service (RPS). The RPS is for Yealink customers all over the world. You simply enter the MAC address of an IP phone and the URL of the provision server into Yealink’s RPS server, and then on initial boot-up the phone will be redirected to its pre-assigned server for configuration updating. Therefore, the phone will be easily configured once installed and easily updated!
Yes, this does sound a bit techie and confusing. So, some specialist business phone brands like SpringCom will do all this automatically for you without the need for you to touch anything. This saves money as you do not have to have a whole IT department to support your phone system. This is only one of the many reasons that having a completely managed service is so great for business!
Yealink SIP-T42S Con's
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth not built in
Although there are adapters for Wi-Fi and bluetooth connectivity, there are other phone systems on the market that provide built in connectivity as standard and not only as an extra function.
Without a built-in camera, the SIP-T48S cannot offer any form of video call or video conferencing, which is offered by other phone handsets.
Not Touch or Colour Screen
For a little extra cost, you could invest in the SIP-T48S with the touch screen. Rather than using buttons to navigate through the pages of the screen, this can be achieved swiftly and conveniently with the touch screen interface. Additionally, the SIP-T46S boasts a colour LCD screen for easy viewing.
The SIP-T42S, though not the most advanced in the range, is a reliable and affordable SIP phone. The incredible HD voice quality paired with the elegant design provides a good solution to users needing the functionality of the T4 series, but not all of the features of the more advanced models. Before making a decision on a handset, think about your own business needs- is the SIP-T42S the handset for you, or could your business benefit from the advanced feature set of other handsets within the series.
