Backlit LCD screen

NEC DT330 12D Digital Phone Terminal
The NEC DT330 12D phone is technically the same as the other models in the NEC DT330 range ( DT330 24D , DT330 32D and the DT330 Desi Less ). They offer the same features and from a design perspective they are laid out the same. What differentiates the models is how many programmable buttons they offer - in this case as the model name suggest there are 12. The 12 buttons are customisable to phone lines, staff, functions, speed dials etc and come with multi colour LED indictors that show users whether the button is free or available. This traditional style flashing LED feature actually makes the DT330 12D handset very easy to use and is easier than scrolling across screens on some IP handsets. For a normal staff member 12 buttons is typically more than enough even in larger companies as few people need to see all staff.
The NEC DT330 12D phone is straightforward to use and offers nice clean design lines. One of the good features is the screen is backlit unlike the cheaper NEC DT310 6DE phone and makes viewing in all light conditions easier. Below the LCD screen are 4 context sensitive keys. These show corresponding options on the screen above them and change depending on which features of the system you're using at any given time. For example, if you're on a call it will present the most logical options like transfer, conference etc. If you are using voicemail it will show voicemail prompts like delete etc. This is much easier than having to navigate around the handset as with older style models. This type of feature has become quite standard on many digital and IP models from different manufacturers for this reason.
The NEC DT330 12D handset also offers users a navigator jog dial located on the bottom right of the handset console. This allows for faster and easier access to system features like directories, speed dial lists, redial recent calls etc. This is a good feature for staff that are constantly dialling the same customers.
The sound quality on the NEC DTL-12D phone is excellent for both the handset as well as the hands free speakerphone which offers full duplex technology. Many handsets are not full duplex which is the same as you'll find on expensive Polycom conference phones. It allows for multiple people to talk at the same time and still be heard clearly on a conference call. This can be a little problematic on normal handsets if people are talking over each other which is quite common. With many phone handsets that have lots of programmable buttons you have paper inserts that allows you to easily identify staff etc. The NEC DTL-12D is no different and this is something that many IP phones have alleviated with larger on screen controls and displays that are paperless.
The DT330 DTL-12D phone connects to existing office cabling and unlike IP phone you will need separate cables for both your PC and desk phone. If you have limited cabling then IP might be a better way to go as you can get twice as many staff for your existing cabling. If you're looking at IP handsets then check out the identical looking DT730 12D IP phone . IP phones are also ideal for hotdesking, remote users and using XML applications. If you have staff relocations etc IP also allows users to automatically register their phones with simple plug and play. This differs from digital phones that need to be reprogrammed or have the ports at the system swapped around.
The NEC UNIVERGE SV8000 pbx phone systems are all hybrid which means you have choice. Not just between phone handset models but also the option of Digital and or IP. A lot of resellers are pushing VoIP handsets but they are actually more expensive and for many users they offer no tangible benefit. Keep this in mind because handsets are the simplest way to save a lot of money on your new pbx installation.
The NEC DT330 12D phone is easy to use, intelligent and feature rich and is a good option for even heavy phone users. Most staff will not need the extra programmable buttons offered by the DT330 24D or DT330 32D models. Infiniti Telecommunications is not affiliated with the manufacturer of this product in any way.
